Bhatti Elegy

How the best are fallen before the worst

The bravest lion before the contemptible cowardly dogs,

The snakes who lurk with malice

The music of his blood ascends with his soul to heaven

Like incense to the throne of God

Rise up, O blood, build a strong house of flesh and bone

Where you have fallen let a thousand lion-flowers grow in your place

Out of your death, may there come something sweet

A man whose shield was his willingness in peace to be a martyr

Torn down by the fake martyrs who deal in death and dishonour

Contemptible cowardly dogs who roll in their own filth

Snakes who’s only deeds and words are vile venom

Servants of Satan, slaves of dajjal, students of an evil ideology

Whose breath is the stench of hell

How the best are fallen before the worst

The bravest lion before the contemptible cowardly dogs,

The snakes who lurk with malice

You will not come to us, but we will go to you

And to the Saviour whose name you bear

O eagle, rise and fly, across the glorious sky,

Fly like you were always meant to, soar to heaven

O lion of Isa Masih who has fallen before vile jackals

May vengeance be a thousand lion cubs born of your blood.
